Small changes big difference »
Continual updates made to our website, have you noticed?
As the website is seen by many these days, we have continually updated it to make it clear and focused. The most improved and recent change has been on our events section. To keep people clear on what Seekers is doing we have added a calendar. This is to keep people informed on 'Young Adult' events that are happening and our general social events, so you can pop along and join! A new 'Bible Meditation' section has also been added to let you know what we have studied and what we plan to study.
If you have any additions you'd like us to make to improve our website, don't hesitate to email to lets us know!

Still growing and more new faces
With the nature of our program, people come and go as their timetable allows. Yet without fail we always meet new friends every Sunday. The diversity in cultural background, is one of awe. To date we have member's representing almost 15 different countries! In brief, our Friday Lenten meditations were a success, with need to continue them on, out of our usual Sunday program. As a group a few of us attended an Archdiocese organised young adult day retreat, which was very prayerful and informative. Something, which I highly recommend again.

'Show me your face'
Led by Fr. Peter Scally SJ, the creator of 'pray-as-you-go' teaches us to pray in the way of St. Ignatius. Through three forms of prayer, 'The Examen,' 'The Lectio Divina' and 'The Imaginative Contemplation,' we begin to slowly understand what God is saying to us. He reveals himself through the Word, through our imaginings in Scriptural scenes, but quite importantly in our daily lives.

Walking with Christ: Five weekly meditations on the Sunday gospels
For those who were interested, the five weekly Lenten meditations called, 'Walking with Christ' begun on the first Friday of lent, and continued to the last Friday, the week of Palm Sunday. We reflected on the Sunday Gospels, which walked us through issues of Suffering, Death and Chastity, to name but a few. The open discussions sparked deeper bonding among friends, which set a platform for sharing on life issues. Although this series is over, there are possibilities to host another similar bible meditation/study group.

Goodbye 2009
Word of mouth and reaching out to St Patrick's parishioners has spread the news about Seeker's. The testament of the need for the young adult group in Edinburgh is evident from conversations from new friends. Each Sunday we have welcomed new faces and it still continues to grow. Not only have we attracted people with our faith-based programs, we have the skeletons of a spin off action group, where we focus on raising awareness on contemporary issues, such as Human Trafficking.

Seekers' Initiatives »
Our action group has a name
Our campaign in spreading awareness about Human Trafficking has taken a turn. Under the 'Seeker's Initiatives: Trust,' we have formalised our action group. The campaign to raise the profile of Human Trafficking in the UK, has taking a turning point. It has directed us to host an 'awareness' event, with notable guest speakers from such charities as 'Stop the Traffik,' 'The Salvation Army,' and including a specialised police officer in charge of trafficked persons, to help us 'shed light' on this issue. More details to come on when and where!

Action arises on modern day slavery »
'Amazing Grace' motivating us to want to help
1834 was the year Slavery was abolished. The efforts of William Wilberforce became a success, however it still exists. The modern day slave trade sees at least 25 million children worldwide in a sexual form of slavery every year. There are more children in other forced labour, and there are adults as well. Because of this, we feel compelled to learn from the passion of William Wilberforce to do something about this. Henceforth, we are starting an action group to raise the profile of Human Trafficking.

Re-launch of Seekers (young adult ministry) »
Revival of the former young adult group to Saint Patrick's
The twenty to thirty-something young adult group has opened its program with a prayer in the style of Taizé on the 27th September 2009. It has begun its first year with a program of events aimed to introduce a variety of faith based, social and campaigning activities aimed to educate, acquaint and form a community for young people in St Patrick's parish and within Edinburgh.
